All that work and THIS is what I get

SOOOOOO, NOT a good day. Today was the last day of bootcamp. So I had the lady do my measurements and stuff again to see my "progress". I figured I hadn't really lost that much weight these last few weeks, only about 3-4 pounds, but surely my shape was changing and I was just gaining muscle right??? Well, NO. The only measurement that went down was my hips, which makes sense since that was probably just my bones closing back in from expanding for the birth. But EVERY other single freaking measurement went UP. Yep, so I'm not lying, my stomach, thighs, arms and body fat all increased. I was so pissed and just wanted to break down crying right then and there. I tried to work out, but just wasn't mentally in the game this morning. I mean, apparently it isn't doing any good so why in the hell did I bust my A$$, and the past two weeks have also been going to the gym an additional two days a week for cardio, all for nothing. I should have just stayed in bed and been a lazy A$$. Right now I wish that I didn't have to worry about the kids and could just go to the bar, which is a slight problem considering it is only 8 in the morning. I'm just so frustrated. People at work are dropping pounds, people go to the bathroom a little extra and 15 pounds falls off.....why the hell can't I catch a freakin break. I don't know anyone who has this much issue. I just want to say screw it all and go back to eating whatever I want and not working out at all, maybe THEN it would come off.
I guess I'm not the only one gaining weight, I weighed Austin yesterday and he is up to a whopping 15 pounds, that is up more than a pound and a half in about 2 weeks!!! At least I've accomplished something lately. Guess my milk is just high fat since I have so much extra hanging around.

Dino days

Yesterday I took the kids to a Parents As Teachers event on dinosaurs. They had a good time. It was a good free activity for an hour. Turner is really in to dinosaurs these days and Mackenzie loves all of the Land Before Time movies. Today we don't have anything going on, which is good because I'd hate to be hauling the kids in and out of the car in this rain. I had actually thought we would go workout today, but not unless the rain stops.
I think we will be getting our van tomorrow. Hopefully it is what we are expecting which means we are getting a really good deal on it. Nice that Aaron works for Lou Fusz. Guess as much as it initially hits you as a bad thing, there are a lot of benefits to our van going out now....like the fact that Aaron currently works for Lou Fusz and that we still have some trade in value, and that it hasn't been too disruptive having only 1 car since I'm still at home. So, I'm trying to look at it that this is a blessing in disguise. But I can't help but stress over having to have a car payment. Times are going to be very strapped. We've done a tight budget, and looking at that daycare cost being so much more than our mortgage, that is when it kind of sucks the breath right out of me! But all my little guys are well worth the struggle and we will survive. Just hope that we don't get any more "Surprises".

Easter

Saturday we went to an Easter Egg hunt and froze our tails off...but the kids had fun. Sunday we got up and did an Easter egg hunt in our living room/kitchen for the kids. They had so much fun. Turner just kept running around yelling "moooo eggggs mom!" Then we started converting some of our family videos to DVD. It was such a fun day watching them together and to remember and look back at ourselves before even being married. The kids loved watching us on TV. Then in the afternoon we went out to Aaron's cousin's house and had a GREAT time and GREAT food. I think i gained like 2 pounds. Oh well.... Then yesterday the kids and I drove down to see my family again. i had a meeting to go to, so my dad watched the two older ones, and I took Austin with me. It was a nice visit.
And then we come to today.....we took the van in because the check engine light came on again - remember we just got repairs done on it a week or so ago. Well apparently that wasn't what was wrong and it is a much larger problem. One not worth fixing, so we have been looking for a new (well used, but new to us) van today. Luckily with Aaron working for a dealership company we are going to get a good deal, but we were just getting the van paid off and really relying on not having a car payment once we had to start sending Austin to daycare, but I guess somehow we will make it work. This sucks though, just when we think we are going to get ahead a little, we get shoved back down. Guess I should start looking on the bright side that we found out before the car crapped out on us and we can still get some trade-in value for it.
And this is my last week home, and the van we think we are going to get won't be ready until Friday so I'll be car-less all week. Well tomorrow I'm taking Aaron to work since we already had stuff planned, but the rest of the week we'll just be around here.

Thursday, March 20, 2008

Well, I think that Austin has been hearing me tell him that I wish he were little again...last night he was up about every 2-3 hours! Yes I'm tired today, but as goofy as I am I'm a little nostalgic today and can't help but be a little happy that my baby isn't all grown up. He was so sweet last night. But I am glad it isn't like that every night now. He has been giving me a 6 hour spurt most nights. I still have him in the bassinet until he is sleeping completely through the night; just easier for me. I'm sure I wouldn't be so happy about last night if I had to go to work today.

Craft Time

We've done a few "crafty" thing here lately. This weekend we did Easter Eggs and then today I let the kids paint. Of course they love being able to get messy with anything, so both activites were a big hit. You'll have to excuse the blurry on some of the pictures. About 2/3 of the pictures I take these days come out blurry like this - it is making me CRAZY. I hate not being able to get good pictures of my kids but just don't have the money right now to buy a new camera. I don't know what is wrong with this darn camera. I don't think I'll ever own a Sony camera again. And I HATE that it doesn't print the date on the pictures, escpecially for the pictures of Austin because even 24 hours can show a difference. Ughhhhh......so frusterating.

I know it has been a while since I posted some pics. One is of Mackenzie and her very first best friend Jacie. We met Jacie's parents in birthing classes while we were pregnant with the girls and have been good friends ever since and the girls shared babysitters when they were younger. I drove down to Cape with the kids on Wednesday so we could have a playdate. They were so cute playing together. Like they were never separated.
Next are the pictures from the Easter Egg hunt yesterday. Yes it was a little cold, and wet, but I'm glad that we are the kind of family that can still go even when it is cold and wet. The kids had so much fun.
The last picture is of Austin last night. He is just getting so big.
Well, time for me to go and take Turner out of the house for some one on one time. He has been acting out a little so I think maybe he just needs some undivided attention.

Gosh, I'm just really getting the hang of this whole stay-at-home mom thing, and now I'm going to be going back to work soon. OF COURSE I've always loved my children and love to spend time with them, but I'll be the first to admit that after Austin was born I looked forward to the days when they would go to daycare and it would just be me and Austin at home. I felt so much freedom being able to get out to go to the store and run errands and get the house clean. But this week was a big change. I didn't want them to leave me. I truley enjoy being home with them all day and we have been having a good time. And now I'm getting in to signing us up for more activities like Parents as Teachers and doing stuff at the library. Gotta go to an Easter Egg Hunt.......will finish this later....and hopefully have pics!

Chou Chou comparison

Had to give our Chou Chou comparison too. Fran did one with Sean.

Just so everyone has something to compare how big he is getting.

What am I going to do......

This isn't the greatest picture since he isn't looking at the camera, but it does show his leg rolls and neck good. My Big Boy

Oh gosh, it has been so long since I've updated, sorry. Time just goes by so fast. So here are a few things that have been happening in our lives.
Yesterday Mackenzie and Austin had their age appropriate checkups at the doctor's office. Both are doing great, both got 4 shots each (poor things). I don't have their stats in here right now, but basically Mackenzie is 90th% in height and weight. Austin is 90th in weight, but only 35-40 in height :), and 50th in head. He weighs right around 13 1/2 lbs. We did look back at Mackenzie's growth chart since we had it out and she was only 45-50th in height at this age. I think by his next appt at 4 months he will sprout up.
Had to take our van in for some more work yesterday, which sucks. Hopefully this is the last money we'll have to spend on it in a while. I look at our account and don't know how we are going to pull off having the extra daycare cost, but I know one way or another it will work out. We just need to really buckle down and not spend on anything extra. I hate living like that, but these kiddos are worth it. I just wish I could buy them all the stuff I want for them, but I know they have everything they need and have a good life.
Yesterday I went and checked out a pre-K program for Mackenzie. So in August she will start going to "school". It is going to be really hard. It is right down the street from us and she will just stay there all day, so won't be going to Nany's anymore. Our neighbors are sending their son there though too, so we will have somebody close to help out with and share carpooling duties. I really think Mackenzie will thrive once she gets used to it. Can't wait to go to her Christmas Program this winter. I'll be looking forward to that all year. Maybe she can be Mary just like her Mommy was!!!! She would make the PERFECT Mary, so angelic and a natural mother:)
Last night Uncle Willy (Austin's godfather) and Aunt Jenna came over to babysit all the kids while Aaron and I had to go to a meeting for the baptism. When we got there, another couple had come and had twins!!! The poor mom was so exhausted so I held the awake twin for the whole meeting pretty much. I know crazy me, I should be enjoying not having to hold a baby, but as soon as she brought them in I was just itching to grab one out of the car seat. Thank goodness he woke up crying! lol He was a little baby, only 8 weeks old, not 9 like my big boy! lol Well I came home and then as I was holding Austin it hit me......Oh Crap...I have to go back to WORK!
What oh what am I going to do. I was only gone for 2 hours last night and I felt so detached from him. So I held him and cried, trying to hang on to my little baby and stop time, but it didn't work. So now I only have 3 weeks left to try to stop time...any ideas. I know I have been so lucky to have the additional time off, but it doesn't make it any easier to leave him. I don't want him to grow up. I've enjoyed having a baby around the house so much, it just works for us right now. Everyone is at such great ages. Now I know all ages will be, but what if I never have a 9 week old baby in the house again....

Adult Time

So yesterday all the kids went to daycare. Austin's first day with Nany all day and I think they both liked it. We took them early in the morning and then came back home to get ready. It was nice just being able to get ready without any interruptions. Aaron's thing went well, we should get the results back in a week or two. Then I ran in to work to touch base with my boss; it was nice to see everyone there. I did my official weigh-in for our rendition of "The Biggest Looser". Wish me luck. I've got a good team, so hopefully I'll hold up the end of my bargain.
After we both got home, we went up to a small Brewery for lunch and had a beer. Then we came home and changed and went up to the gym together. It was nice to be able to work out together. Then it was time to go get the kids. So the time went by very quickly, but it was nice to have time together with no kiddos.
Boot camp is going good I guess. I can tell that I've got a little more stamina now, but there is no weight coming off. So I'm pretty much at the weight I was at about 2-3 weeks post baby. A little depressing, but I'm just trying to stick with working out and especially now that I'm in this challenge at work I need to start watching what I'm eating.
Turner is doing great at potty training. He has been keeping his pull-up dry between sleep times. Mackenzie.............
Austin is waking up, gotta go, I'll try to finish later.

After playing minature golf. The kids LOVED playing

Austin in his new bouncy seat

Turner in the old one before he broke it.

Gosh, sorry it has been so long since my last update...time has flown. Yep, that is the ongoing theme for this year I think - time is flying by. I cannot believe my little baby is 8 weeks old today. Where has the time gone. And I only have 4 weeks now until I go back to work and I know it is going to fly by too. Seems every week goes so quickly - each day is pretty much booked and before I know it, it is time for PJs and bed.

SO what has been new with us....This weekend was beautiful. We got to play outside all weekend long. It was like a little spring dress rehearsal and we loved it. We practiced playing soccer (Kenz starts in Mid-April), went and played miniature golf and watch Aaron hit a few balls, and played in our yard. Even got to sit out with the neighbors Saturday night and have a couple drinks. Can't wait for that time of year. It is just so easy to sit out with them, not need for babysitters, or getting dressed up, it is cheap, and they are very laid back just like us. Of course now we are watching the snow come down, what weird weather!

Turner has really started to potty train. He goes in the toilet and keeps his pull-up pretty much dry at daycare (she is better at keeping up with him!) So today I'm trying to keep the trend going and am just setting my oven timer for an hour and making him sit on the pot. He kept his pull-up dry all morning long, so wish me luck. I just get so preoccupied, and it is a lot easier to change his diaper every couple hours then getting him in the bathroom every hour, but in the long run it will be worth it. And once I learn more what his schedule is, I'll more the critical times to take him in.

Austin is growing like a weed. I tell you, he is getting solid. He got a new bouncy seat yesterday since big brother broke his other one, and we CANNOT go without a bouncy seat. I know a lot of people use the vibration and stuff on these chairs, but we really use it as a "bouncy" seat. He is at about every 4 hours at night. Sometimes I get a 5 hour stretch, and then sometimes it goes back down to 3, but I still can't complain at ALL about his nights since he goes right back to bed.

Which reminds me, last time I had posted about us getting out King bed delivered...well it was worth EVERY penny. Oh my gosh, I sleep SOOOO good on it, maybe even too good, I slept through my alarm last Friday and missed bootcamp! lol You know how you sleep so good that first night that you have the bed to yourself if like your husband/wife is away, well it is like that every night except even better because Aaron is still right there and I can still roll over and cuddle every night too.

Thursday all the kids are going to daycare. Aaron is taking off work and we are going to have a day to ourselves. Well, really just an afternoon by the time we get the kids in and get done with each if our own work things, but even an hour alone will be nice. Now we have to decide, do we just come home and go straight to bed (to sleep of course, get your head out of the gutter :) !!!!) or do we get out and be active???? Don't really care as long as I get some time alone with my hubby. These moments will be few and far between with 3 kids. No one around to babysit and it would cost an arm and a leg to hire someone! So we'll just sneak the time we can.
